Just a brief background on singlish. It's a language that you pick up when staying in Singapore for long usually. It comprises of English, Mandarin, Malay and other dialects like Hokkien. To me, sometimes it's just abbreviating certain parts of a sentence. i.e. "did anyone [switch] off the fan?!"
In the context of playing guitar hero [on wii], these were some statements picked up.
guy: "what [mode] are you?"
girl: "I'm [on] easy [mode]. How about you?"
guy: "I'm [on] hard [mode]"
*pauses*
guy: "erm, never mind."

First day at work!
My time orientation is getting worse in SG somehow!
Official Work time is 845am to 530pm.
Reached HR office at 820am, waited with 2 other people for their first day @ work too =) One was from Finance, the other from Customer Service.
By the time people started strolling in, it was like 915am =)
One good thing about working at the company I interned before at, is that people are roughly the same and the environment is the same =D
Due to the space constraints in the department, I actually got the chance to sit at the big boss' table (who moved into the room)! It was like a super large desk! However, the computer seemed quite slow =x microsoft 2000 .. lots of shortcuts that I used in Excel 2003 not available! =(
One silly thing I did today! I can't believe I FORGOT that my knock off time was 530!!! I thought 545.. PLUS.. no one else left at that time! But everyone urged me to go back early when I have the opportunity. haha.
Lesson learnt: do NOT take the bus home =x took like 1.5 hours to reach home!

Greedy or conventional?
Praise God!
Just when I got all disappointed and afraid about not getting a job...
God answers prayers.
Amazing how God listens to our prayers and comforts us in times of need!
The good news came in at about 9:50am, a simple call that offered me:
6 months job probation from company A that I needed to respond by Monday
Was thinking of whether company B might offer. So I took forever to call because they kept transferring my calls or not answering.. or the phone would just hang up =x
Apparently the boss from company B was in reservist. =x But a job offer MIGHT or might not be sent by next week.
My current dilemma is whether I should 'doubt' that the job offer from company A. To just accept or to delay the job acceptance and wait for the possible job offer from company B?
Am I being greedy or just conventional?

Don't put my picture on the web! I'll sue you!
While waiting for my dad to fetch me, I saw this vending machine, accumulated with at least 4 different drinks. Several people tried to buy a drink in order to take advantage of it. All failed. So I stepped forward, took a shot and went back to the business of waiting.
All of a sudden, this auntie shouted, "oi! 你不要乱乱拍照！不要放在网络上！不然，我回告你的！"
Puzzled, I looked back at the direction of the vending machine. "HUH?", I thought to myself.
Suddenly the auntie appeared right in front of me, continuing to accuse me and threatening to sue me.
I remained calm and replied that I had only taken one picture and it was as above. Since she was so hysterical (and frankly, made me all the more curious as to WHY she was so insistent), I showed her my folder which only comprised of 7 pictures, and kept pointing out that I only took ONE picture and it was the above picture. She couldn't even see that the picture was the vending machine. Still she insisted that I took her picture and WARNED me that if I post it up or something, she can sue me.
All this time, I kept wondering how she might explode if I called her crazy out loud, or try to insult her asking her why on earth would I want her picture, not as if she's pretty or anything. Haha, good thing I had self control =-p so tempted.
*on a side note: we got a Wii! =) am sweating like a pig (yes, i feel like I'm fat) as I play baseball with my sis now.

Interview week
3 interviews in past week!
1) Pricing position with AIA [mon]
Interview went well. Questions I prepared didn't come out. Relatively smooth i think, though i could feel myself getting nervous. The tight voice and repetitiveness might have exposed it a little. Hopefully the interviewers didn't pick up on that. =x
a nice point was that I knew both interviewers from my internship =)
UAT was going to be the bulk of the work for the next 6 months or so. I don't mind because it'll give me an idea of the overall products. Give me time to readjust to the singapore style of working hopefully.
2) Actuarial postion with IMI [wed]
Knowing that the interviewers are going to be people I don't know, I felt relatively more nervous. I think the interviewers picked up on that because the main interviewer tried to assure me that they are both informal and stuff.
I guess I was meant to elaborate on questions he asked, but I fell into the 'ask one question, get one answer' mode. It was hard when he asked why I chose this company. I prepared a little before hand but the best I could have come up with the hour before the interview: different types of products. haha, so smart. I didn't really memorise much of the company info or the head office's. I remembered writing down a bit and thinking it was so redundent =x fail.
3) Valuation position with AIA[thu]
The interviewer today was actually one of my supervisors. But she forgot what I did already. =p Lol. Refreshed her memory. But told her I didn't really understand the role and I think the interview was mostly her explaining the role of valuation. There were Forms, checking on solvency, explaining queries initiated by others for reasons/assumptions behind differences in premiums for similar products to people of similar ages, statstical reports and stuff.
Actually, I'm not sure if that whole bunch of stuff scared me. Haha, plus the interviewer asked how i would deal with stress and if i do not know how to do something and everyone's busy. plus the fact that there are datelines every DAY not just a certain month. maybe maybe. Maybe that's what scared me and put me off into telling the interviewer later that I actually preferred pricing (no.1's interview position)
I keep holding the assumption that I would not be able to solve things by myself each time because firstly, my results are terrible and i might not thus have understood the requirements well. Secondly, I might not know the system/programme that they are using well enough.
This kind of thinking pulled me down to earth when speaking to my interviewer today =x rar.

Had a short msn convo with one of the pricing interviewers. She suggested that I thank the Valuation interviewer for giving me the interview and that I am interested to be on her team, because in the interview today, I told her that I prefer pricing! Ah, the fear of being overwhelmed frightened me! Well, plus the fact that both interviewers would be liasing in choosing people for their team. Was actually hoping she'll put in a good word for me in front of the other interviewer. =p But not sure if it'll work too.

The fall

surprised to see that u had to go to the 24 hour clinic downstairs and not able to receive basic first aid treatment for knee scrapes within the hospital =x
Thank God for the nice nurse who helped ET clean but still advised ET to see a doctor [don't like seeing doctors though..so ET didn't =p]
Upset that ET can't swim for the next few days though =(
